INNINGS!!!!
The Red Devils opened up their
2010 season at Oak Lawn High
School after a long winter
lay-off. Central put 2 on the
board in the 1st inning when Mac
Burridge lead off with a single.
Burridge was forced out at 2nd
as Jack Hellwig took 1st. Matt
Anderson singled to put runners
in the corners and Hellwig
crossed home plate on an RBI
single by Alex Tufano. Pat
Foley’s sac fly scored Anderson
to give Central a 2-0 lead. Oak
Lawn responded by putting up 6
runs on 7 hits in the first 2
innings to take a 6-2 lead.
Jack Hellwig led off the 3rd
with a walk and scored on an RBI
double from Anderson who
advanced to 3rd on a throwing
error. He scored on a sac fly
from Tufano cutting the lead to
2. Pitcher Will Pahos held Oak
Lawn scoreless in the third
inning. Pahos hurled 3 innings
allowing 6 runs on 7 hits with 2
hit batters and 3 strike-outs in
the outing.
Hellwig led off the 5th with a
walk and scored on an RBI double
by Anderson. Foley brought
Anderson home with an RBI single
to tie the game at 6. Carson
Elmore threw 2 scoreless innings
giving up 2 hits, 2 walks and 1
strike out.
Cooper Travis led off the 6th
with a double, advanced to 3rd
on a sac bunt by Burridge and
scored on an RBI single by
Hellwig giving Central a 7-6
lead. In the 7th, Matt Slider
led off with a double and
Jacques Camalick was
intentionally walked but both
were left stranded. Oak Lawn
scored with 2 outs in the bottom
of the 7th to tie it up and
force an extra inning. Neither
team scored in the 8th so the
game ended in a 7-7 tie due to
darkness.
Chris Bobo went 2 innings on the
mound allowing 1 run on 2 hits,
1 walk, 1 hit batter and 3
punch-outs. John Spacapan held
Oak Lawn in the 8th with 1 hit
batter and 1 strike out.
The Red Devils played well in
the opener turning 2 double
plays and Matt Slider had a nice
diving catch at 3rd base.
