Spacapan-Central Top DGS 4-3!

John Spacapan turned in another solid pitching performance to give the Red Devils a 4-3 win over the Mustangs of Downers Grove South in the cross conference match-up.

Central scored in the 1^st inning as the speedy Mac Burridge reached base on an infield single and scored on an RBI double off of the bat of Matt Anderson.  The Mustangs loaded up the bases with 2 outs in the 3^rd inning, but Spacapan struck out the next batter to end the threat.

Central padded their lead in the 5^th inning as Cooper Travis and Chris Bobo led off with singles.  Jack Hellwig laid down a sac bunt to move the runners into scoring position and Burridge delivered a 2 RBI single to put the Devils up by 3.  Anderson belted a double and Burridge scored on a wild pitch to give Central a 4-0 lead.

The Mustangs didn’t go down quietly as they plated 3 in the 6^th to pull with in 1, but senior pitcher Drew Kornak shut down the rally in the top of the 6^th and held them in the 7^th to preserve the win. 

Kornak threw 1 1/3 innings with 1 hit and 1 walk.  

John Spacapan hurled 5 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs on 5 hits with 5 walks and 6 strike outs.
