CENTRAL DROPS HOME OPENER
AGAINST ANDREW
The Red Devils hosted Andrew in
the 2010 season home opener.
Andrew struck first in the 2nd
inning scoring twice for a 2-0
lead on a walk and 3 hits.
Central answered in the 3rd as
Cooper Travis and John Ellis
drew walks. Matt Anderson
doubled to score Travis and Alex
Tufano was intentionally walked
to load the bases but all were
left stranded.
Matt Sliter and Jacques Camalick
singled to lead off the 4th and
both scored on wild pitches to
put Central ahead 3-2. Senior
pitcher Peter Marquardt entered
the game in the 5th inning and
Central’s defense turned an
inning ending double play to
leave 2 runners stranded.
Andrew put 3 on the board in the
6th to take a 5-2 lead.
Jack Gilbert entered the game in
the 7th inning with 2 runners
aboard and proceeded to strike
out the next 2 batters. A walk
loaded up the bases and the next
batter cleared them on a 0-2
pitch to put Andrew up 9-3.
Gilbert struck out the next
batter to end the inning.
Travis led off the 7th with a
single, Anderson walked and
Tufano singled to load up the
bases. Travis scored on a passed
ball and Pat Foley added an RBI
single scoring Anderson but 2
were left stranded.
Will Pahos pitched 4 innings
allowing 2 runs on 4 hits with 3
walks and 4 strike outs.
Peter Marquardt threw 2 innings
allowing 5 runs on 4 hits with 2
walks.
Jack Gilbert allowed 2 runs on 1
hit with 1 walk and 3 strike
outs.
