Central Drops Game 2 Against
York!
The Red Devils were hoping to
take 2 games at home from the
Dukes of York. John Spacapan
took the mound for Central in
game 2 of conference play after
Will Pahos pitched a complete
game for a 5-1 victory in game 1
to open the 3 game series.
Jack Hellwig reached on an error
and scored on an RBI single from
Matt Anderson to put Central on
the board. York responded with
a run in the second and pitcher
John Spacapan made a great play
when he was hit by a shot up the
middle, ran, picked the ball up
and back handed it to the 1st
baseman to nail the runner by a
step. York added a run in the 3rd
with a walk and RBI triple, but
Mac Burridge ended the scoring
when he canned a runner at home
trying to score on a sac fly.
Chris Bobo led off the 3rd
inning with a single, Burridge
walked and Anderson added an RBI
single for a 2-2 tie. York
answered with a 2-run homer in
the top of the 4th to
take the lead for good.
Bobo and Hellwig singled in the
5th but both were
left stranded. York plated 3 in
the 6th inning to
stretch their lead to 7-2. The
Red Devils were unable to
overcome the 5 run deficit and
split the double header. The
Devils and Dukes play the rubber
match on Tuesday
Spacapan pitched 3 1/3 innings
allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 6
hits with 3 walks, 1 hit batter
and 1 strike out.
Peter Marquardt threw 3 2/3
innings allowing 3 runs on 5
hits with 4 walks, 1 hit batter
and 5 K’s. |
