Red Devils Tame Tigers!
Hinsdale and Wheaton Warrenville
South tied 3-3 tie going into
the sixth when the Red Devils
blew the game open scoring 5 in
the top half and then added a
couple more in the seventh to
beat the Tigers 10-3 on another
solid hitting and pitching day.
The Red Devils got on the board
in the third inning with 3 runs
on six hits. Matt Timmermann
lead off with a single, Garrett
Knecht singled to right and then
Tommy Delzenero singled to right
scoring Timmermann. Mike Fikaris,
Sam Lucente and Peter Foley all
had back-to-back-to-back singles
to left scoring both Knecht and
Delzenero.
In the big sixth inning, Jack
Fuller reached on an error
leading off, Timmermann double
to the wall in left. Knecht
singled scoring Fuller and
Timmermann. Tom Bieber doubled
to deep left center scoring
Knecht. Fikaris hit a big home
run to left field scoring Bieber
and himself.
Hinsdale added a couple more
insurance runs in the seventh as
Delzenero reach on an error,
Fikaris doubled to left center
scoring Delzenero. Lucente and
Foley both singled as Fikaris
scored to close out the day.
It was a big offensive day with
18 hits. In addition to the
above hits, other hits in the
game were Fikaris (single),
Lucente (single) and Foley (3
singles).
The Red Devils pitching was very
strong again lead by starting
pitcher Jay Richards (3 innings,
3 hits, 2 strikeouts, 1 walk, 2
runs), Michael Huebner (1.67
innings, no hits, 2 strikeouts,
3 walks, 1 unearned run), Luke
Rafferty (.33 innings, no runs)
and closing the game by Alec
Hardy (2 innings, 2 hits, 2
strikeouts, no runs). Great job
to all of the pitchers!
