Red Devils Shock Thunderbolts!
Hinsdale took advantage of a 7
error first inning by Andrew
scoring 5 runs who never looked
back beating Andrew 6-3 behind
excellent pitching and heads up
base running.
The Red Devils pitching effort
only allowed one earned run. It
was lead by starting pitcher
Michael Fikaris (3 innings, 2
hits, 3 strikeouts, 2 unearned
runs), Adam Swade (3 innings, 2
hits, 1 run) and closing the
game by Luke Rafferty (1 inning,
2 walks). Great job to all of
the pitchers!
In the first inning, Andrew
committed 7 errors as the Red
Devils had only two singles
(Peter Foley, Jay Richards) and
a walk (Tom Bieber). The
Hinsdale base runners (Foley,
Richards, Bieber, Garrett Knecht,
Tommy Delzenero, Luke Rafferty)
put strong pressure on the
Andrew players forces some bad
plays.
After the first inning, they
settled down as the Red Devils
only managed one more run. It
came in the 5th as Matt
Timmermann doubled to left
center, moved to third on a wild
pitch and scored on a balk.
Hinsdale managed a few more hits
as Foley singled in the fourth
and in the seventh Will Howson
and Timmermann had back to back
singles to left.
It was a very strong effort by
the Red Devil players against a
tough Andrew team.
