Red Devil Baseball Season
Ends Too Soon!
After the rain cancelled
Tuesday’s regional match up, the
Red Devils traveled back to
Naperville Central to take on
the Redhawks. It would be their
second meeting of the year with
similar results. Hinsdale
started out well and took a 3-1
lead in the 2nd after
Josh Camalick drew a walk, Stevo
Kraynak singled and Charlie Herr
jacked a three run bomb over the
center field fence. John Duffy
also singled in the inning. In
the 3rd , Rob
Bellusci singled and Camalick
drove him in with an RBI
double. Central scored again in
the 6th on back to
back doubles by Herr and David
Kiyosaki for the 5th
run of the game.
We lost this game because we
didn’t make Naperville Central
beat us, we ended up beating
ourselves. While the outcome
was disappointing, I think our
season as a whole was a good
one. We did a lot of positive
things, played very solid
defense and had some spectacular
games! We turned numerous
double plays and of course the
triple play against Oak Park. We
had several web gems including
diving catches in the outfield
and bare hand plays in the
infield to the delight of the
fans! Our pitching really
turned it on in the second half
of the season, holding our
opponents to very few runs. We
hit lots of home runs, doubles,
a few triples and the team
batting average was over 350!
All of your Red Devil 09
Superfans would love to see you
play one more game! But, it is
time for the seniors to move on
and the underclassmen to prepare
for next year.
I have enjoyed watching and
writing the game summaries for
this group of Seniors over the
past 4 years. As an end to the
season, I would like to leave
you with my memories about each
of you: Scott Anderko your smile
and poise on the mound along
with your pitching form and
mechanics were awesome! Ryan, I
love to watch and hear your
expressions behind the plate and
the way you drop bombs! Duff is
always aggressive at the plate
and in the outfield. Speedy
Phil gets to the ball quickly in
center field! Teddster, Son of
Monty it was great to get you
back in the dugout! Jason
(Bubba) McClain, I admire your
competitive nature and your
energy. Sean is a true player
and always gives it his best
effort. Robbie, you have really
developed into a great pitcher
this year and I have always
liked your aggressive base
running and the way you drive
other pitchers crazy dating way
back to the Barons days!
Connor, with all that speed, I
have watched you bunt and steal
bases since little league!
David, I have loved watching you
mature into a smart, dominant
pitcher over the years and
seeing you hit line drives at
the plate. “LINE DRIVE DAVID!!”
Winks, don’t forget about
Ciggytown, that’s how you got
that homer against Naperville!
Brother Josh, I knew you could
do it all along 5!
Good luck to all of you in
whatever you do. I will miss
watching you guys play! |
