Central Unable To Complete The
Sweep!
The Red Devils were hoping to
sweep conference rival DGN, but
the defense of the Trojans
proved to be too much to
overcome as they turned 4 double
plays on Hinsdale with runners
in scoring position.
Connor Marrero (3 for 4) led off
the game with a double to left
center field. Stevo Kraynak
reached base and Marrero was
thrown out at home. Josh
Camalick (3 for 3) launched an
RBI double scoring Kraynak and
putting Central on the board.
The Trojans tied it at 1 in the
second. Central rallied in the
3rd inning when
Marrero and Matt Anderson
singled and Camalick walked to
load up the bases. Charlie Herr
reached base driving in Marrero
and Alex Tufano’s RBI single
plated Anderson.
DG took the lead in the 3rd
and never lost it again adding 3
in the 3rd, 4 in the
4th and 2 in the 5th
to go ahead 10-3. Central
threatened in the 4th,
5th and 6th
with singles by Marrero,
Anderson, Camalick and Hurst,
but were unable to capitalize.
Hinsdale staged a comeback in
the 7th as Kraynak,
Camalick and Tufano (2 for 4)
singled to load the bases.
David Kiyosaki drove in Kraynak
on an RBI single and John Duffy
(2 for 4) scored Camalick with
an RBI single.
Rob Bellusci went 3 innings
allowing 5 runs (3 earned) on 7
hits with 2 walks, 1 hit batter
and 3 punch outs.
Carson Elmore threw 1 1/3
innings allowing 5 runs (4
earned) on 5 hits.
John Ellis closed out the game
going 1 2/3 strong innings
allowing only 1 hit.
