Great Pitching and Defense Hold Off DGN!

Senior right handed pitcher Scott Anderko tossed 5 strong innings without allowing a run on 1 hit, 5 walks and 3 strikeouts.  Downers Grove threatened to score in the 1^st but were shut down with 2 runners aboard.  Central scored it’s only run in the bottom of the 2^nd as Josh Camalick walked and advanced to 2^nd on a great bunt down the 1^st base line by Charlie Herr. Rob Bellusci advanced the runner to 3^rd with a ground ball to 1^st base and Camalick scored on a wild pitch to give the Red Devils a 1-0 lead.  DGN had a mild threat in the 3^rd , but catcher Alex Tufano threw out a runner attempting to steal 2^nd ending the inning.  Central had a golden opportunity to add a run in the 4^th with 2 runners on base but failed to get them home. 

Carson Elmore closed out the final 2 innings of the game with 1 walk and 3 K’s.  He was helped out by an awesome double play turned by Matt Anderson and Stevo Kraynak in the 6^th. The Red Devils are looking to sweep their conference opponents in the 3^rd game of the series.
