Hinsdale Holds Off DGN Late
Inning Rally!
In the first game of the double
header, the Trojans of Downers
Grove North struck quickly
scoring a run in the top of the
first inning. The Red Devils
responded with a run as Stevo
Kraynak took 1st
after being hit by a pitch, Josh
Camalick walked and Kraynak
nabbed 3rd and scored
on a wild throw to tie it up.
Charlie Herr drew a walk but
Central left 2 aboard to end the
inning. Hinsdale added 3 more
runs in the 3rd
inning as Matt Anderson doubled,
Camalick singled (3 for 3) and
an RBI single by Herr scored
Anderson. Rob Bellusci walked
and David Kiyosaki (2 for 4)
drove in Camalick with an RBI
single but Herr was thrown out
at home. Ryan Connelly (2 for
4) drove in Bellusci to give the
Devils a 4-1 lead.
DGN answered with a solo home
run in the 4th and
Central ended a Trojan threat in
the 5th with a
beautiful double play turned by
Kraynak and Anderson. The Red
Devils broke out in the 5th
inning when Josh Camalick
blasted a solo home run over the
left center field fence. Herr
walked, stole 2nd,
Kiyosaki had a single and
Connelly reached base allowing
Herr to score on the play. John
Duffy belted a 2 run single
driving in Kiyosaki and
Connelly. Connor Marrero
singled and Kraynak drove in
Duffy with an RBI double.
Camalick finished off the 5th
inning driving in 2 with a
double down the left field line
putting the Red Devils on top
11-2.
The Trojans staged a dramatic
comeback by putting 7 runs up in
the 6th inning to
close the lead to 11-9. John
Duffy came in relief to shut
down DGN in the 7th
and hung on to the lead and the
win.
Will Pahos pitched 5 1/3 innings
allowing 7 runs (5 earned), on 7
hits, I hit batter, 2 walks and
5 strike-outs in the outing.
Drew Kornak allowed 2 runs on 1
hit with a walk. Colby Ourada
2/3 inning gave up 2 hits and
John Duffy went 1 inning with 3
punch-outs. |
