RED DEVILS THUNDERSTRUCK BY ANDREW!

The Red Devils traveled to Tinley Park to take on the Andrew Thunderbolts in non conference play. It was cold and windy as they took the field.  In the first inning, Stevo Kraynak singled, but got thrown out trying to steal 2nd base. Josh Camalick belted a double off  the right field fence but was left stranded. Matt Anderson started off the 2nd inning with a single and David Kiyosaki took 1st on a walk. Jason McClain laid down a sac bunt to advance the runners but the Red Devils were unable to get them home.  In the bottom of the second, catcher Ryan Connelly threw out a runner attempting to steal 2nd base.

Connor Marrero led off the 3rd inning with a single and then stole 2nd base. Kraynak walked and both advanced on a passed ball into scoring position. Rob Bellusci hit a sac fly to score Marrero and a catcher’s throwing error scored Kraynak for a 2-0 Devils lead. The Thunderbolts tied it up in the bottom of the 4th on a 2-run homer.  Camalick led off the 6th with a single up the middle but was stranded on first base. Andrew took the lead in the bottom of the 6th with a bases loaded single scoring a pair to take a 4-2 lead.  Camalick ended Andrew’s scoring by turning a double play to retire the side.  The 7th inning was scoreless.

Despite the loss, David Kiyosaki pitched a solid game allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on only 2 hits in 5 1/3 innings.  He walked 3 while striking out 1. Peter Marquardt came in relief for 2/3 of an inning allowing 1 hit.

Connor Marrero made three outstanding catches in left field and the infield was very solid defensively.
