Red Devils Drop Heartbreaker in
the 7th!
The Red Devils traveled to
Elmhurst to take on the Dukes of
York in the rubber match of the
series after splitting the
Saturday double header. It was
a must win to take control of 2nd
place in the West Suburban
Silver Conference behind Oak
Park.
In the 1st inning,
Matt Anderson reached base and
Josh Camalick (2 for 4)
singled. Charlie Herr (2 for 3)
belted a double to left center
field to score Anderson but 2
were left stranded. York tied
it up at 1 in the bottom of the
1st . John Duffy (2
for 4) singled in the 2nd
but was left stranded. Central
added 2 in the third inning with
back to back home runs by
Anderson and CamalicK. Both
balls were hit over the left
center field fence. York
answered again with 2 more in
the bottom of the 3rd.
Hinsdale scored once in the 4th
as Jack Hellwig and Connor
Marrero (2 for 5) singled
followed by an RBI single by Rob
Bellusci scoring Hellwig.
Charlie Herr led off the 5th
inning with a double followed by
an RBI double by David Kiyosaki
to give the Devils a 5-3 lead.
Marrero led off the sixth inning
with a single followed by a walk
to Bellusci. Anderson laid down
a sac bunt to advance the
runners and Herr was
intentionally walked to load up
the bases but the Red Devils
were again unable to score. We
could have used some insurance
runs. Pitcher Scott Anderko
helped himself out in the bottom
of the 6th as he
picked off a runner at 1st
base and struck out 2 to end the
inning. York roared
back in the bottom of the 7th
to score 2 and take the win. It
was a tough loss for Hinsdale.
Scott Anderko pitched 6 innings
allowing 4 runs on 5 hits with 1
walk and 8 strike-outs. John
Duffy came on in relief allowing
2 runs on 2 hits with 1 walk.
