Central Loses 7-5 Heart Breaker
to OPRF!
In the second game of the series
in Hinsdale, the Huskies of Oak
Park jumped out to an early 2-0
lead on a 2 run homer in the top
of the first inning. Central
tied it up in the bottom of the
2nd inning on a 2 out
rally beginning with a long ball
over the left field fence by
John Duffy. Phil Hurst walked,
stole 2nd and 3rd
and scored on an RBI single off
of the bat of Connor Marrero.
Hinsdale gave up 3 more in the 3rd
inning to give Oak Park a 5-2
lead. In the bottom of the
third, Central had an
opportunity to score when Matt
Anderson and Josh Camalick
singled. Charlie Herr laid down
a sac bunt to advance the
runners into scoring position.
The next batter, Jason McClain,
was hit by a pitch to load the
bases but all were left
stranded. Both teams were
scoreless in the 4th
inning. Camalick led off the 5th
inning with a bomb over the
center field fence to pull
within 2. Central held OPRF
scoreless in the 6th
inning highlighted by a diving
grab by Camalick on a lazer down
the 3rd base line.
The Red Devils missed a golden
opportunity in the 6th
inning as Hurst and Marrero
walked. Stevo Kraynak belted an
RBI double to score Hurst.
Anderson was intentionally
walked to load up the bases.
With 1 out, Central failed to
pick up any more runs and the
score going into the 7th
inning was 5-4 in favor of Oak
Park. The Huskies scored 2 in
the 7th to take a 7-4
lead. In the bottom of the 7th,
Ryan Connelly singled and Jason
McClain doubled. With runners
in scoring position,
Duffy had an RBI ground out
scoring Connelly but Central
wasn’t able to score again and
the game ended with Oak Park on
top 7-5. This was a very tough
loss to the conference leaders.
David Kiyosaki went 6 innings
giving up 6 runs (5 earned) on 7
hits with 2 walks and 3
strike-outs. Peter Marquardt
went 1/3 inning allowing 1 run
on 1 hit and 1 walk. Carson
Elmore went 2/3 inning giving up
1 walk. |
