Central Sweeps Doubleheader!
Scott Anderko pitched a complete
game throwing 6 strong innings
allowing only 1 run on 3 hits
with 2 walks and 4 strike-outs.
The Panthers scored their only
run in the top of the 1st
inning.
Central took the lead in the
bottom of the first as Stevo
Kraynak walked, advanced to 2nd
on a passed ball, took 3rd
on a ground out by Rob Bellusci
and scored when Josh Camalick
reached base. Ryan Connelly
walked and Jason McClain (3 for
4) singled scoring Camalick for
a 2-1 lead. In the top of the
third, Connor Marrero made a
nice diving catch in left field
helping to hold the Panthers at
1 run. The Red Devils added 3
in the 4th as
Connelly walked, McClain doubled
and John Duffy walked to load up
the bases. Jack Hellwig (2 for
3) drove in Connelly with an RBI
single. Phil Hurst grounded out
plating McClain and Marrero
added an RBI ground-out to score
Duffy and take a 4-1 lead.
Central stretched their lead to
7 in the 5th inning
when Bellusci walked, stole 2nd,
advanced to 3rd on a
sac fly by Camalick and scored
on an RBI single from Connelly.
Pinch runner Zack Alleman stole
2nd advanced to 3rd
on a passed ball and scored on
an RBI double by Hellwig.
Central ended the game in the 6th
when Marrero singled, stole 2nd
and scored on an RBI single by
Kraynak. Bellusci singled and
Camalick walked to load up the
bases. Connelly drove in
Kraynak with an RBI ground out
and McClain ended the game with
an RBI single plating Bellusci.
A solid pitching and defensive
performance with timely hitting
by the Red Devils earned them a
sweep of the conference
double-header on a very windy
Saturday. |
