Central Corrals Mustangs 6-2

The Morton Mustangs trotted into Hinsdale for the first of a 2 game series against the Red Devils of Hinsdale Central. The Mustangs threatened in the 1st inning after a couple of walks and a single, but with 1 out and the bases loaded, first baseman David Kiyosaki caught a line shot right at him and stepped on first base for an inning ending double play!

Central struck first in the bottom of the 3rd inning with a single by Connor Marrero. Rob Bellusci (2 for 3) reached base and Josh Camalick (2 for 3) drove in Marrero with an RBI single to take a 1-0 lead.  Hinsdale kept Morton scoreless in the 4th helped out by Kiyosaki who fielded a ground ball and tossed it to Bellusci who was quick to first to get the runner.  In the bottom of the 4th, Stevo Kraynak reached base and advanced to 2nd on a sac bunt by Kiyosaki.  John Duffy singled to score Kraynak and the Red Devils went up 2-0.

With 2 Mustangs on in the top of the 5th, the Red Devils turned another inning ending double play.  Matt Anderson fielded the ball, flipped it to Kraynak who fired it to Kiyosaki for the third out.  Hinsdale increased their lead to 5-0 in the 5th inning as Bellusci led off with a single and scored on an RBI double to left field by Matt Anderson (2 for 4).  Camalick followed with an RBI triple down in the right field corner to score Anderson.  Camalick crossed home on a wild pitch.

John Duffy made a great diving catch in center field holding Morton to 2 runs in the 6th inning.  Central picked up an insurance run in the 6th when Bellusci walked, Anderson singled, and Camalick walked to load up the bases.  With 2 outs, Charlie Herr drew an RBI walk for a 6-2 lead.  Hinsdale had a quick 1-2-3 7th inning to seal the win for the Red Devils!

Rob Bellusci did it all today!  He was 2 for 3 with a walk, made 4 defensive plays, and pitched 5 scoreless innings allowing 5 hits with 4 walks and 4 strike outs against a tough opponent.

John Ellis went 2/3 inning allowing 2 runs on 2 hits with 1 walk and 1 strike out.

Jack Hellwig threw the final 1 1/3 inning with 1 strike out.
