Central Corrals Mustangs 6-2
The Morton Mustangs trotted into
Hinsdale for the first of a 2
game series against the Red
Devils of Hinsdale Central. The
Mustangs threatened in the 1st
inning after a couple of walks
and a single, but with 1 out and
the bases loaded, first baseman
David Kiyosaki caught a line
shot right at him and stepped on
first base for an inning ending
double play!
Central struck first in the
bottom of the 3rd
inning with a single by Connor
Marrero. Rob Bellusci (2 for 3)
reached base and Josh Camalick
(2 for 3) drove in Marrero with
an RBI single to take a 1-0
lead. Hinsdale kept Morton
scoreless in the 4th
helped out by Kiyosaki who
fielded a ground ball and tossed
it to Bellusci who was quick to
first to get the runner. In the
bottom of the 4th, Stevo Kraynak
reached base and advanced to 2nd
on a sac bunt by Kiyosaki. John
Duffy singled to score Kraynak
and the Red Devils went up 2-0.
With 2 Mustangs on in the top of
the 5th, the Red
Devils turned another inning
ending double play. Matt
Anderson fielded the ball,
flipped it to Kraynak who fired
it to Kiyosaki for the third
out. Hinsdale increased their
lead to 5-0 in the 5th
inning as Bellusci led off with
a single and scored on an RBI
double to left field by Matt
Anderson (2 for 4). Camalick
followed with an RBI triple down
in the right field corner to
score Anderson. Camalick
crossed home on a wild pitch.
John Duffy made a great diving
catch in center field holding
Morton to 2 runs in the 6th
inning. Central picked up an
insurance run in the 6th when
Bellusci walked, Anderson
singled, and Camalick walked to
load up the bases. With 2 outs,
Charlie Herr drew an RBI walk
for a 6-2 lead. Hinsdale had a
quick 1-2-3 7th
inning to seal the win for the
Red Devils!
Rob Bellusci did it all today!
He was 2 for 3 with a walk, made
4 defensive plays, and pitched 5
scoreless innings allowing 5
hits with 4 walks and 4 strike
outs against a tough opponent.
John Ellis went 2/3 inning
allowing 2 runs on 2 hits with 1
walk and 1 strike out.
Jack Hellwig threw the final 1
1/3 inning with 1 strike out.
