Central Wins Slugfest –

McClain, Marrero & Camalick Homer!

After a quick game one of the doubleheader, the Red Devils jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the second game. It would turn out to be a very long contest lasting well over 3 hours where both teams put on a hitting show totaling 36 runs!  Connor Marrero(3 for 5) led off with a solid single and scored when Stevo Kraynak(2 for 4) ripped an RBI double to left center field followed by a rope RBI double to right center field by Matt Anderson(2 for 4) scoring Kraynak.  Josh Camalick(2 for 3) walked and the runners advanced on an errant pick off throw to 1st.  Alex Tufano(3 for4) loaded up the bases with a walk and Charlie Herr launched an RBI sac fly to right field scor-ing Anderson. Camalick scored the 4th run as Jason McClain(2 for 3) reached base.

Glenbard responded with a 3 run second inning.  Central answered in the 3rd as Tufano walked, McClain doubled down the left field line and John Duffy(2 for 3) drove in 2 with a single.  Glenbard tied it up at 6 in the 3rd.  Camalick made a nice bare handed play behind the pitchers mound and gunned out the runner at 1st to stop the rally.

Central came back with a 6 run 4th when Marrero singled but was caught stealing, Kraynak singled, Anderson walked and Camalick drove in Kraynak with an RBI single.  Anderson scored on an RBI single from Tufano and Herr reached base scoring Camalick.  Jason McClain came up to the plate and hammered a 3 run homer over the left field wall to put Central ahead 12-6.  Duffy capped off the inning with a double but was left on base.  The Hilltoppers closed the gap to one in the bottom of the 4th.  The slugfest continued in the 5th inning as Connor Marrero smashed a solo home run over the right center field fence.  Kraynak walked, Anderson belted an RBI triple scoring Kraynak and Camalick walked.  Tufano singled driving in Anderson.  Herr advanced the runners with a sac bunt and McClain drove in Camalick with a sac fly to center field.

Glenbard West kept coming back and tied it at 16 in the 5th inning.  Hinsdale took the lead for good in the 6th when Phil Hurst singled, Kraynak walked and with 2 outs, Josh Camalick belted a 3 run bomb over the center field fence putting Hinsdale ahead 19-16.  Glenbard added a solo home run in the 7th and Matt Anderson had a web gem as he dove horizontally to take away a hit between 1st and 2nd base.

Scott Anderko pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up 6 runs on 6 hits with 2 walks and 3 punch outs.  John Duffy went 2/3 inning allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 1 walk with 1 hit batter and 1 strike-out.  Jack Hellwig threw I inning allowing 6 runs on 4 hits, 2 walks and 1 hit batter.  David Kiyosaki finished out the last 2 2/3 innings giving up 2 runs (1 earned) off 2 hits with 2 walks and 2 K’s.
