Central Wins Slugfest –
McClain, Marrero & Camalick
Homer!
After a quick game one of the
doubleheader, the Red Devils
jumped out to an early 4-0 lead
in the second game. It would
turn out to be a very long
contest lasting well over 3
hours where both teams put on a
hitting show totaling 36 runs!
Connor Marrero(3 for 5) led off
with a solid single and scored
when Stevo Kraynak(2 for 4)
ripped an RBI double to left
center field followed by a rope
RBI double to right center field
by Matt Anderson(2 for 4)
scoring Kraynak. Josh
Camalick(2 for 3) walked and the
runners advanced on an errant
pick off throw to 1st.
Alex Tufano(3 for4) loaded up
the bases with a walk and
Charlie Herr launched an RBI sac
fly to right field scor-ing
Anderson. Camalick scored the 4th
run as Jason McClain(2 for 3)
reached base.
Glenbard responded with a 3 run
second inning. Central answered
in the 3rd as Tufano
walked, McClain doubled down the
left field line and John Duffy(2
for 3) drove in 2 with a
single. Glenbard tied it up at
6 in the 3rd. Camalick
made a nice bare handed play
behind the pitchers mound and
gunned out the runner at 1st
to stop the rally.
Central came back with a 6 run 4th
when Marrero singled but was
caught stealing, Kraynak
singled, Anderson walked and
Camalick drove in Kraynak with
an RBI single. Anderson scored
on an RBI single from Tufano and
Herr reached base scoring
Camalick. Jason McClain came up
to the plate and hammered a 3
run homer over the left field
wall to put Central ahead 12-6.
Duffy capped off the inning with
a double but was left on base.
The Hilltoppers closed the gap
to one in the bottom of the 4th.
The slugfest continued in the 5th
inning as Connor Marrero smashed
a solo home run over the right
center field fence. Kraynak
walked, Anderson belted an RBI
triple scoring Kraynak and
Camalick walked. Tufano singled
driving in Anderson. Herr
advanced the runners with a sac
bunt and McClain drove in
Camalick with a sac fly to
center field.
Glenbard West kept coming back
and tied it at 16 in the 5th
inning. Hinsdale took the lead
for good in the 6th
when Phil Hurst singled, Kraynak
walked and with 2 outs, Josh
Camalick belted a 3 run bomb
over the center field fence
putting Hinsdale ahead 19-16.
Glenbard added a solo home run
in the 7th and Matt
Anderson had a web gem as he
dove horizontally to take away a
hit between 1st and 2nd
base.
Scott Anderko pitched 2 2/3
innings giving up 6 runs on 6
hits with 2 walks and 3 punch
outs. John Duffy went 2/3
inning allowing 3 runs (2
earned) on 1 walk with 1 hit
batter and 1 strike-out. Jack
Hellwig threw I inning allowing
6 runs on 4 hits, 2 walks and 1
hit batter. David Kiyosaki
finished out the last 2 2/3
innings giving up 2 runs (1
earned) off 2 hits with 2 walks
and 2 K’s. |
