Hinsdale Win 2nd Game
of Double Header
The Hinsdale coaches decided to
use game 2 of this doubleheader
to rest some starters and change
up the batting order. These
tactics paid off from the get go
when speedy CF, Phil Zarcone led
off for the Devils with a nice
sharp single to right field.
More speed followed in the shape
of Britt Conte who soon found
himself on second with a
steal. Jimmy Blodgett
contributed with an RBI and the
Devils were already two up. Much
of the same followed in the
second when Zarcone, who went
4/4 in the game, knocked in Mike
De Salle, who had singled. Kevin
Knox, Matt Owen and Jimmy
Blodgett all singled in the
fourth and by that stage it was
practically all over for PW.
Hinsdale continued to score
freely throughout the game with
small ball baseball-singles,
walks, bunts and stolen bases
were plentiful.
On the defensive side, Alex
Hodakowski did a fine job on the
mound for Hinsdale keeping
Proviso down to just 2 runs.
A five run sixth inning put the
Devils into slaughter rule
territory. With the weather
threatening, John Spacapan was
brought in as closer to make
sure the game didn’t go into a
seventh inning. |
