Devils Tame Panthers in Five
In conditions more suited to
flying a kite, Hinsdale made
short work of PW
with another impressive
performance with both bat and
ball. With the deadly 1-2-3
combo of Spacapan, Bobo and
Foley(2 RBI’s) leading off the
first, Hinsdale took to an early
4-0 advantage. The Jaguars were
unable to respond as Jack
Gilbert made short work of their
offence, pitching the first two
innings. He was replaced by
Jared Kreger in the third who
continued the good work,
reducing the Jaguars to a
handful of hits and snuffing out
any thoughts of a comeback.
Outfielders and infielders alike
were constantly being challenged
by the swirling wind which
prompted last minute dives and
weird contortions for them to
make the catches.
Proviso, who didn’t help there
cause with errors, walks and
wild pitches, were unable to
withstand the Devil’s offensive
onslaught. Gilbert, contributed
2 RBI’s in the third after
seeing his double hit the fence,
just falling short of a HR and
some great bunts from Sean
Houlihan and Kreger in the
fourth aided in extending the
Devils’s lead.
The game ended in the fifth when
the slaughter rule was enforced. |
