Two Homers from Bobo as Offence
Cuts Loose
First baseman Chris Bobo solo
homered in the first,
immediately lifting the Devils’
confidence and spurring them on
to an impressive victory.
Regular catcher Pat Foley was
given the start on the mound and
pitched well over two innings,
by the end of which Hinsdale had
blown a hole in the side of the
Pirates’ resistance. An RBI
triple from Phil Zarcone and
some other fine hitting from his
team mates in the second
produced 5 runs and the writing
was on the wall.
The
Pirates hit well in the third
off the pitching of Jimmy
Blodgett, scoring three but
after that he settled down and
pitched well for the remainder
of the game. Meanwhile Bobo hit
another homer in the fourth (2
RBI) and the rest of the offence
chipped in to increase the
overall tally to 13.
