Rally Falls Short

The Devils were looking to salvage a win against DGN in their three game set with our conference foe.  The Devils fell behind earlier and worked hard as they clawed back but fell short.

The Devils scored in the 3rd inning as Garrett Knecht led off with a single.  He reached second after a DGN error on Matt Timmermann.  Jack Fuller singled Knecht home for our first run.  In the 4th,  Tom Bieber led off with a single.  After a fielder' s choice by Knecht, Will Howson double scoring the runner.

In the 5th, Sam Lucente reached on an error.  Luke Rafferty was up next and reached on an error.  Bieber singled scoring Lucente.

As the Devils tried a comeback in the last inning, Connor Driscoll reach on an error.  Bieber stepped up and bombed one to right but just bell short of a homerun.  He managed a double scoring our last run.

Other Devil hits were singles by Will Howson and two by Lucente.

Pitching for the Devils were Lucente, Rafferty, Sam Burnett and Driscoll who combined for 9 strikeouts, 6 walks and 2 hit batters.  Burnett and Driscoll held DGN scoreless in their 3 innings combined pitching.

It was a very good played game by the Devils that just fell short.
