Cook was “cooking” with 14 K’s #25 Garrett Cook struck out 14 batters in six innings as the Devils won the second game of the double header. In the first inning Proviso West scored first on a double with a man on and 2 outs. Hinsdale didn’t strike back until the 3rd inning when #13 Kris Leksas hit a rocket to second base for a single then #2 Brock Piche walked on followed by #44 Jared White who was hit by a pitch. With bases loaded, 2 outs and #35 Jack Dinardo up to bat the Devil’s scored their first run as Dinardo was walked on to first. #20 Brett Suchy was not going to leave runners on base as he hit a line drive up the middle to bring in 2 more runs. Still with 2 outs, Dinardo on 3rd, Suchy who is on 1st sprints to second for a steal drawing proviso’s catcher to throw to 2nd as Dinarod comes in for the 4th run of the inning. In the 4th inning leading off #12 Taylor Weil hit a single followed by another single from #11 Matt Meyer who moved #9 Bill Auriemma to third who was pinch running for Weil. Now with the same game situation as in the 3rd inning, man on first and third, Meyer takes off for second and Auriemma takes off for home scoring on the 2nd double steal of the day. Proviso West fought back in the 6th scoring 3 more runs to bring the score 4 to 6 to start the 7th Inning. The top of the 7th #36 Jason McClain was sent to the mound. McClain gave up a hit to start the inning then advanced to 2nd on a past ball. McClain then fanned the next batter then forced a pop out to the 3rd batter. The next batter hit a slow roller to second putting a runner on 3rd and the tying run on 1st. The number 3 batter in Proviso’s line up now up to bat hits into an error bring in an rbi. Classic 2 outs 2 on. Proviso’s tying run on second and the winning run on first with their cleanup hitter up to bat. McClain throws the first pitch as the batter swings popping up to second base, Piche, for the final out.
