Zender Homers as Central Edges Oak Park 4-3!
Hinsdale Central took the second game of the double header against the Huskies. The Red Devils got on the board in the 1st inning as lead-off hitter Richie Zajeski reached base on a line shot to 3rd. He stole 2nd and 3rd and scored on an RBI sac bunt by Connor Marrero. Scottie Zender and Sean O’Grady also singled in the inning. In the 2nd, David Kiyosaki reached base, Mike Rogowski laid down a sac bunt to advance Kiyosaki who scored on an RBI single by Ryan Connelly to give the Red Devils a 2-0 lead. OPRF put 2 on the board in the 3rd to tie it up. The 4th inning was scoreless and in the 5th, the Huskies added a run to take a 3-2 lead.
Zajeski led off the 5th with a single. Oak Park went to the well too many times with outside pitches as slugger Scottie Zender hit a 2 run bomb over the right center field fence to put the Red Devils on top. Camalick also singled in the inning.
Central held the Huskies scoreless in the 6th and 7th innings and the gamed ended once again on a double play fielded by Camalick to Kawa to Herr at 1st for the victory.
Scottie Zender pitched a complete game allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, 5 walks and 1 strike-out.
Coach Stan and manager Connor Brennan danced on the pitchers mound to celebrate the conference victories much to the delight of the players and fans!
