Central’s Bats Soar Against The Eagles!
The sun was shining brightly as the Red Devils got on the board early in the first when Ryan Connelly drew a walk, stole second base and scored on an RBI single by Josh Camalick. Brendan Sullivan added a single. Leyden tied it up in the 2nd with 3 singles and plated 1 run. The 5th inning brought an offensive explosion started off by Scottie Zender who reached base, followed by a single by Connelly. Camalick drilled a 2-run double to right center field, followed by 3 straight singles by Sullivan, Herr and Bellusci to add 2 more runs. Richie Zajeski finished off the inning with a 2 run double to right field to total 6 runs in the inning. Leyden added 3 in the 5th and 2 in the 6th to close the gap to a 2 run deficit, but the Devils weren’t finished yet. Mike Rogowski opened the 7th with a single, stole 2nd and scored on a single by Sullivan. Herr singled and Zajeski added another RBI double scoring Sullivan. Connor Marrero walked and Zender topped off the 4 run inning with a 2 run single bringing home Zajeski and Marrero to bring the score to 12-6.
Starting pitcher Garrett Kawa threw a complete game scattering 8 hits, giving up 1 walk and 6 runs while striking out 4. The Red Devils compiled 17 hits in the game and hope to repeat the offensive surge against York to salvage the last game in the series.
