Frosh freeze Warriors

Although the real Hilltoppers reside a few miles west of today’s game site, the freshmen baseball field atop a hill next to the music blasting girls’ soccer games at Willowbrook High School could easily have worn that moniker today.  On a day where the weather started out so promising actual game time conditions were brutal.

Al Kirk, who pitched four very strong innings, and Jack Hellwig combined to hold Willowbrook to one earned run in a 5-3 victory.  Scoreless through three, the Red Devils plated three runs in the fourth on a single by Mike Discipio, a walk to Kirk, and RBI single by Alex Tufano, followed by an RBI single by Stevo Kraynak.

The frosh added a run in the sixth. In the seventh Hellwig hit a one out single and scored a run.
