Saturday sweep at Proviso West
The Red Devil freshmen did not allow an earned run on the day (and no hits in the second game) as they defeated Proviso West in both games of their double header Saturday 15-2 and 13-0, with both games going 5 innings. Will Pahos started game one and was relieved after 2 2/3 by Stevo Kraynak, who closed it out. Kolby Ourada and Jason Rafferty worked a combined five innings of no hit ball in the second game.
Offensive highlights included Al Kirk, who had two triples on the day. The first one looked like a sure home run until it landed, when a combination of backspin and soggy field conditions let it roll only about 2 inches, allowing the center fielder to catch up to it pretty quickly and hold Al to a triple. Zach Studnicka smacked a bases-loaded single to right center and picked up a two-out RBI. The clutch hitting continued as Alex Tufano hit two 2-out singles to drive in a run from third with two outs. Mike Rogers, starting in left field, lined a 0-2 pitch down the left field line for a triple and what seemed like the game clincher early in game one.
