Frosh Take Two from DGN
After what seemed like a week of nonstop rain the sun finally came out and the freshman field was coaxed into playing condition in time for a double header against Downers Grove North.
In the first game Will Pahos got the Red Devils on the board with a two run BOMB to right in the bottom of the second. In the fifth the Devils plated five. Jack Hellwig drew a one out walk and was moved to second on a Mike Discipio single. Alex Kirk followed with an RBI double. Stevo Kraynak followed an Alex Tufano walk with a 2 RBI double. Jason Rafferty followed with a 2 RBI double of his own to end the scoring for the Red Devils.
On the mound Pahos started and pitched 5 2/3 innings, striking out five and walking five. He allowed four runs in the sixth inning. Rafferty came in to get the last out of the sixth. In the seventh DGN rallied for two runs but Charlie Hetke ended the threat with a catch in left with two runners in scoring position.
Kolby Ourada started game two. He scattered five hits over four innings allowing a couple of runs. Hellwig pitched the last two innings.
The Red Devil bats heated up in the second game. Several players had a multi hit games. Tufano went 4 for 5 with a double and 4 RBI against his buddies from DGN. Kirk was 2-4 with a double and an RBI. Kraynak was 2-3, as were Mike Rogers and Mac Burridge. Discipio was 1-3 with an RBI and Pahos added a single in the sixth.
