Red Devils top Vikings 6-3

The Red Devils kept their winning ways on track by defeating the Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings 6-3 on Wednesday.  Timely hitting and good pitching boosted the Red Devils to 2-0, early in their 2006 campaign.

Starting pitcher Kasey Ourada (6K, 2BB, 3IP) pitched out of a first inning, bases loaded, no outs jam by striking out two batters and forcing a pop out to first baseman Will Lamb.  The Devils then tallied a lone run in the second inning, with Colin Cimala (2-2, 3 RBI) driving in Brett Morse (2 R, SB) from second, after Morse reached on an error, and advanced to second with his first stolen base of the young season.

In the third inning, the Devils took advantage of several walks and an error, with an RBI double by Brett Suchy (1-3, RBI) to put the Devils on the board.  With runners on second and third, Cimala delivered again with a two RBI single to right, lifting the score to 5-0.  Alex Bellusci (RBI) then drove in Morse with a sacrifice fly to right for the final run of the inning.  Andrew Nicholas, Toby Adeyemi, Mark Noth, Morse and Suchy all scored in the five run, third inning.

Kevin Quirke (2K, 2IP) came on in relief in the fourth inning and allowed a two out, three run homer, but then struck out the final batter, ending the game after 4.5 innings, due to darkness.
