A Validation Victory for Hinsdale Central;
Ourada get the big win while Noth goes yard
The Red Devils once again showed why they belong at the elite level of Illinois baseball by knocking down the big dog LT Lions. Kasey Ourada threw the rock 124 times in a magnificent complete game 6 3 victory with a stellar defense to support him. Each inning LT got a couple of players on base, but Ourada made the right pitch at the right time for the key out.
Defensively, in the 1st inning with runners at 1st and 2nd and 2 outs, Ourada struck out a tough hitter. In the 2nd inning with runners at 1st and 2nd and 2 outs, Drew Bailey snagged a grounder up the middle and stepped on 2nd to get the 3rd out. In the 3rd inning with the bases loaded and 2 runs in for LT, Ourada struck out the 6th batter of the inning. In the 4th inning with the bases loaded and 2 outs Casey got the 6th batter of the inning to fly out to Tobi Adeyemi. In the 5th inning the first LT batter singled, and the next batter grounded to Ourada who turned and threw to Andrew Nicholas for the out at 2nd then Nicholas fired a strike to Sam Katz at 1st for the second out. In the 6th inning with no outs and a runner on 1st and 2nd LT’s Weston grounded to Bailey who stepped on 2nd for one out then threw to Katz at 1st for the 2nd out. In the seventh inning Ourada closed out the game with a 1-2-3 inning.
Offensively, it took only 2 innings for the Red Devils to get enough runs to secure their 6 3 victory. In the 1st inning Nicholas coaxed a walk then after 2 outs Brett Morse reached base with an infield single while Nicholas moved to third on the play. With Colin Cimala at the plate, Morse stole 2nd and on the throw, Nicholas scored for a successful double steal. Cimala was then hit by a pitch to put him on 1st and with Brett Suchy at bat the LT pitcher tried to pick off Cimala and threw wild, advancing Morse to third and Cimala to 2nd. The next pitch was wild allowing Morse to score and Cimala to reach 3rd. Suchy then walked, followed by Alex Bellusci who swung at strike 3 but the ball got away from the catcher allowing Cimala to score and Bellusci to reach 1st for a 3 0 lead. In the 2nd inning, Nicholas singled, followed by Adeyemi who singled. The hot hitting Mark Noth* stepped to the plate and on a 1 2 count hit a bomb over the left field fence for a big 3 run home run which extended the Devils lead to 6 0.
*Noth has now homered in the last 3 games, driving in the winning runs in each of those games. |
