And Leyden makes 15, Noth bombs Eagles
A gallant pitching performance by Will Lamb and Drew Bailey extended the Red Devil victories to 15. Lamb pitched 4 innings striking out 2 yielding 3 runs while the defense stepped up with 2 double plays. Bailey pitched 4 innings striking out 6 and allowing 2 runs to get his 2nd victory of the year.
The scoring started in the 3rd inning when Chris Leksas singled and was moved to 3rd by an Eric Wroble double. Andrew Nicholas stepped to the plate and launched a triple to score Leksas and Wroble. Nicholas scored on a ground out by Tobi Adeyemi. In the 4th inning Carl Madej singled followed by Frank Defino who reached base on an error by the shortstop. Wroble then reached base on an error by the right fielder which scored Madej and Defino, extending the Devils’ lead to 5 – 1. In the 8th inning with the scored tied at 5, Brett Suchy reached base with a walk and was followed by Mark Noth who hit a bomb over the left center field fence for a two run home run to close out the game with a 7 – 5 victory. |
