Red Devils needs to get back on track
Hinsdale Central showed early resiliency against the Huskies in game 2 of the series, but high pitch counts, walks and errors, combined to hurt their cause.
Trailing 2-0 after a half inning, the Red Devils charged back with two outs as Brett Suchy walked, advanced to second on an errant pickoff throw and scored on a Mark Noth single. Brett Morse followed with an RBI double to deep right center field scoring Noth. Drew Bailey followed with a laser shot to the center fielder, who misjudged the ball, scoring Morse and put the Red Devils up 3-2. A new pitcher then came in for Oak Park in the second inning and held off any further scoring for the remainder of the game ending in a 13 3 loss.
Nick Kurash started and went one and a third innings giving up 4 runs on 1 hit, 5 walks and struck out 3 batters. Pat Keiser came in to pitch in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings giving up 5 runs striking out 2. Will Lamb came in to the 4th inning and got the final out then pitched the 5th inning and part of the sixth inning allowing 1 hit and 1 run. Charlie Thomas came in to pitch the 6th inning and was the victim of 1 unearned run getting 1 strike out.
The Red Devils will have to regroup for game 3 of the series and work to get back on track and on to their winning ways as they approach the regional playoffs. |
