Fountas finds groove, keeps Red Devils perfect!
Anthony Fountas used his baffling array of pitches to go the distance for a 6 – 2 victory over the Willowbrook Warriors. In the seven inning performance Fountas struck out 5 batters allowed 5 hits and 2 runs. Andrew Nicholas had another great defensive game assisting in 7 putouts and making 2 unassisted putouts.
The scoring started in the first inning with Tobi Adeyemi reaching first on an error then went to third on a Brett Suchy single. Mark Noth stepped to the plate and hit a shot into the left centerfield gap for a double scoring Adeyemi and Suchy. In the second inning Sam Katz walked and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Drew Bailey. Nicholas up next singled to score Katz and moved to second with a steal then scored on a Suchy single. In the fourth inning Brett Morse reached first on an error and proceeded to second on a steal. Up next Alex Bellusci laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Morse to third followed by Katz who hit a sacrifice fly to score Morse. In the sixth inning Morse walked then stole second, Katz followed and hit a single that scored Morse to close out the Red Devils scoring and securing a 6 – 2 win. |
