Red Devils more hits, Hilltoppers more runs in 3-2 loss
Hinsdale Central’s 7 hits were spread out over the 7 inning game, producing 2 runs, while Glenbard West had fewer, but timely hits with runners in scoring position. Nick Kurash pitched 5⅓ innings, striking out 9 and allowing 3 runs to pick up a tough loss. Charlie Thomas came in and pitched the 6th and 7th innings striking out 2 while getting out of a bases loaded jam in the 7th inning.
Offensively the Devils’ bats were relatively cool, while 6 men were left on base. There were some moments of excitement when the Red Devils scored in the 2nd and 6th innings. In the 2nd inning, with 2 outs, Drew Bailey proceeded to take the pitcher to a full count, and on a fast ball, air mailed the pitch high over the center field fence for a home run. In the 6th inning with 2 outs, Tobi Adeyemi sparked some momentum as he hit a sharp double, followed by Sam Katz who, with a full count, hit a triple down the right field line scoring Adeyemi. Unfortunately that closed out the Red Devils scoring ending in a 3 2 defeat. Other hits came from Mark Noth who singled twice and Brett Suchy who singled once. |
