Offense keeps rolling, Fountas tunes up

A 3 game sweep of Proviso West was the product of a strong offensive surge in the first inning and the crafty pitching of Anthony Fountas.  Fountas pitched the 5 inning game, striking out 6 and allowing only 1 run and 3 hits.  Two of those runners were picked off of first when they strayed too far from the base.  Fountas picked off another batter he walked.

Offensively in the first inning, Andrew Nicholas walked and stole second while Toby Adeyemi was at bat, advanced to 3rd on a passed ball and scored on a wild pitch.  Adeyemi then singled and stole second while Brett Suchy was at bat, and scored on a Suchy single and advanced to 3rd on an error.  Mark Noth walked and advanced to 2nd when Brett Morse hit a ball to the 2nd baseman, who made an error while Suchy scored.  Colin Cimala walked to load the bases, followed by Sam Katz who’s sac fly scored Noth.  With Alex Belluschi at bat, Morse scored on a wild pitch and on the next pitch, Bellusci singled, driving in Cimala.  Carl Madej walked, followed by a Nicholas double which scored Belluschi.  Adeyemi singled, scoring Madej.  Suchy hit a sac fly to score Nicholas for the 9th run of the inning.  In the 2nd inning with 1 out Katz stepped to the plate and hit a booming home run over the left field fence.  In the 3rd inning, consecutive doubles by Adeyemi and Suchy produced one run and closed out the scoring with an 11-1 victory.
