In the first
game of a twin bill, the Sophomore Red Devils had no offensive answer for
Wheaton Warrenville South pitching in a 13-0 slaughter rule shortened loss in
Wheaton. Starting pitcher Matt
Murray had to leave the game in the second inning after being struck in the
head with a hard hit ground ball.
He was not seriously injured.
HinsdaleÕs only offensive threat was in the fourth inning. Matt Meyer led off with a single and
Will Edwards reached on an error.
Grant SlesserÕs hard hit ground ball up the middle was turned by WWS
into a 6-4-3 double play, while Meyer moved to third. Richie Brennan walked but the inning ended on a Garrett Cook
pop out. The Red Devil defense was
plagued by seven errors. Nick
Baldwin (1 2/3 innings) and Jared White (1 inning) finished the pitching duties
for the Devils.
