Sophomores fall to DGN 7-2
The Sophomore Devils lost the opening game of the Saturday twinbill with Downers Grove North, 7-2. Hinsdale could only manage four hits against DGN with three of them coming in the first inning. With one out, Jared White (2-3, run, SB) laced a line drive double down the left field line. Zach Leathers (1-3, SB) followed with a single with White stopping at third. After a Leather’s stolen base, Grant Slesser’s (1-3, RBI) RBI single scored White with Leathers moving to third. Richie Brennan’s line drive to first base turned into an unassisted double play and an end to the Devil rally. Hinsdale’s second and final run came in the seventh inning. Brennan led off with a walk. With one out, Bill Auriemma (0-3, run, SB) forced Brennan at second. Auriemma stole second base and scored when Troy Laing reached on an error by the DGN second baseman.
In his first trip to the mound in two weeks, Harrison Dahl took the loss, allowing seven runs on seven hits over 5 2/3 innings. |
