The Sophomore Devils dropped a 9-4 decision to Lyons Township in the first game of a Saturday doubleheader. Hinsdale could not contain the potent LT hitting attack which broke the game open with three runs in each of the third and fourth innings.
After the Lions scored a run in the first inning, the Devils took a 2-1 lead in the second. Zach Leathers (1-4,run) led off with a single and Richie Brennan (1-2,run,BB) followed with a walk. After a double steal and two strikeouts, Jared White (3-3, 3 RBI) singled to score both runners. In the third, Mike Imke (1-4,run) doubled, moved to third on a sacrifice by Brock Piche, and scored on a single by Grant Slesser (1-3,RBI,HBP). Trailing 7-3 in the fourth, Hinsdale scored its final run on a walk to Bill Auriemma (0-2,run,BB), a stolen base and an RBI single by White.
Zach Leathers pitched the complete game and took the loss, allowing six earned runs and ten hits while striking out five. |
