Sophs beat OPRF 5-4 with two-run rally in 7th
Grant Slesser’s (1-4, RBI) two out, 7th inning single with the bases loaded capped the Devil’s 5-4 come-from-behind victory over OPRF. Trailing 4-3, Hinsdale’s seventh started with an infield single by Troy Laing (1-3, run). Laing moved to second on a throwing error, and scored the tying run on a single by Bill Auriemma (2-2, 3 runs, 2 RBI, 2 SB). After a flyout to right, Mike Imke (3-4, run, 2 RBI) beat out an infield hit. With two outs, Zach Leathers singled to left moving Auriemma to third, setting the stage for Slesser’s heroics.
Zach Leathers was superb on the mound, striking out 14 while allowing only 4 runs on 5 hits over seven innings. |
