The Red Devil Sophomore team rode a strong pitching performance by Zach Leathers (7K’s, 4BB’s) to a 2-1 win over the York Dukes in the first game of a Saturday doubleheader in Elmhurst. Leathers allowed only one run and 2 hits over seven innings to earn his first victory of the year. The Devils pushed across a run in the first inning. With one out, Matt Meyer (0-1,BB,run) walked and stole second. He advanced to third on a Leathers fly-out and scored on a single by Grant Slesser (1-3,RBI). Hinsdale scored the deciding run in the fifth on a single by Richie Brennan and a two out double by Leathers (1-2,2B,RBI). Leathers was supported by errorless infield play from Bill Auriemma, Meyer, Brock Piche and Brennan. |
