Willowbrook Completes Sweep of Sophs
Willowbrook held off a seventh inning Red Devil rally and completed a three game sweep, 7-5 on Tuesday. With the game tied at 1, pitcher Nick Baldwin was cruising into the top of the sixth when the Red Devil defense – stellar up to that point –deserted him. Two mishandled bunts figured prominently in Willowbrook’s five run outburst.
Hinsdale Central rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh and had the tying run at first, but couldn’t overcome the Willowbrook sixth inning. Shortstop Zach Leathers had three hits (3 for 4, double, RBI) for Central. Right fielder Garrett Cook (2 for 4) was the only other Red Devil to have a multiple hit game. Baldwin walked 4 and struck out 2 and pitched a complete game.
