The Sophomore Devils completed the doubleheader sweep of Proviso West with a 12-1 victory. Mike O’Reilly recorded the 5 inning complete game win, allowing one run and six hits while striking out nine Panthers.
The Hinsdale hitters scored in all four innings. They quickly scored five runs in the first inning. After an infield out, Garrett Cook (2-4, 2 runs, 2B) doubled, Bill Auriemma (3-4, 2 runs, 3 RBI), Will Edwards (1-3, 1 run, 1 RBI), O’Reilly (2-3, 2 runs, 1 RBI) and Nick Baldwin (2-2, 3 runs, 1 RBI) followed with run scoring singles. Andrew Smiles (2-2, 2B, 2 RBI) closed out the first inning scoring with an RBI double to right center. The Devils added two runs in the second inning on a walk to Matt Meyer, a long triple by Auriemma and a wild pitch. Hinsdale scored five runs over the next two innings to put the game out of reach.
