Red Devils come back to down Tigers

After relying on pitching to "Kurash" through one of its first major barriers of the baseball season, Hinsdale Central turned to late-inning dramatics to continue its winning ways.

Two days after a 10-strikeout one-hitter by pitcher Nick Kurash earned the Red Devils a 2-0 win over state-ranked Andrew, Hinsdale Central (4-0) used a two-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Wheaton Warrenville South 7-6 on Wednesday.

Colin Cimala provided the final heroics in the win, singling home the winning run after a single and three walks had tied the game at 6-all.

Cimala and Brett Suchy each had two hits in the game, while Hinsdale Central also put on a power show with home runs from Andrew Nicholas, Sam Katz and Drew Bailey.

Suchy was the hitting star against Andrew, as his two-RBI single in the first inning scored Tobi Adeyemi and Mark Noth for all the run support Kurash would need.

Hinsdale Central opens WSC Silver play at 11 a.m. Saturday with a doubleheader at Proviso West. The Red Devils also host the Panthers on Tuesday.
