Spring Family
Reading Night

Organized by:
Maribeth Bailey

On Wed. April 19, 2006,
The Hinsdale Central Varsity Baseball Team hit another charitable home run as their baseball clinic proceeds and personal time benefited the children of Anne M. Jeans School.

Rushing to the elementary school after winning an 11 inning tie breaker with the York Dukes, the Red Devils were pleased to be able to share their baseball success stories with the young children who were eager to listen.

The theme for the Anne M. Jeans Family Reading Night was of course baseball and our Red Devils were the special reading guests.  Our boys were stationed in classrooms with children as young as pre-school on up to fourth grade.  They read stories to them with baseball themes and talked with the parents about their successful baseball season.

After reading, all went to the gym where they enjoyed “ball park” food and raffled off Sox and Cubs tickets.  The children were able to select books for their own personal reading and got autographs in their new books from some of their reading guests.  The proceeds from the Red Devils Baseball Charity Clinic contributed to over 400 new books, encouraging a love for reading in these young students.
