HINSDALE RALLY FALLS SHORT IN RACCOON GAME
After a 2 hour 30 minute rain delay which left the field sloppy and a 15 minute raccoon capture delay, LT exploded for 9 runs in the first inning to put the game out of reach of the valliant Red Devils.
The Red Devils were obviously distracted by the clever LT plot to plant a raccoon in the corner of the Hinsdale dugout. Fearing for their lives the Red Devils took the field and fell behind early. The first play of the game saw an outfield collision followed by 9 runs crossing the plate.
After being assured by animal control that their dugout was safe, the Devils rallied in the first. Connor Lind walked and Dustin Reznicek singled. Chad Bisnette singled in one and Brett Morse doubled in another. After a walk to Colin Cook, Andrew Nicholas got an rbi walk and Doug Pilcher plated another on a ball to short.
Pilcher settled down and dominated LT for the next 5 innings to keep the game within striking distance. He was helped by a rocket throw from catcher Sosnovich to nab the speedy LT star Brewer at second on a steal in the fourth.
The Devils added one in the third when Pilcher singled in Morse and 2 more in the fifth when Morse homered to complete his 3 hit day and score the walking Garrett Sosnovich.
Unfortunately it was too little too late. The second game was postponed until Monday due to the threat of darkness, field conditions and the Illini Nation.
