DEVILS TORCH THE BLAZERS
Doug Pilcher hurled a complete game shutout with 8 strikeouts and only 2 hits as the Red Devils slaughtered the Trailblazers in 6 innings.
Hinsdale grabbed the lead in the first when Connor Lind singled, Dustin Reznicek walked and came home on Chad Bisnette's double.
There was excitement in the second when Colin Cook doubled and watched in awe as Thor Pilcher took a mighty swing at the first pitch which registered high on the richter scale. An angered Thor almost decapitated the pitcher on the next pitch with a 150 mph line drive up the middle that was hit so hard that Cook could not score from second.
Another run was added in the third when Lind singled and came home on sloppy Addison fielding.
The Red Devils broke the game open in the fourth when Dan Portschy walked and went to second on Colin Cook's second double of the game. Lind, in the midst of an 11 game hitting streak, scalded a double down the left field line to plate 2 and came home on Biz's major league popup to the catcher. Garrett Sosnovich limped to second on an rbi boomer to the fence and pinch runner Mike Grez scored on Brett Morse's single.
The fun continued in the fifth when Potschy blasted a ball over the centerfield fence. The slaughter was completed in the sixth when Dustin Reznicek opened with a triple, scored on Biz's single who trotted home on Sosnovich's long one over the wall.
A great Mother's Day victory from the Red Devil Baseball Team.
