DEVILS POUND THE HUSKIES

The Red Devils brought their hitting shoes to Oak Park and dominated the game by pounding out 17 hits and scoring 15 runs to win the Huskie series.

Inspired by superfan the sartorially resplendent Joe Mullen dressed in a fashionable purple and pink hooded pullover, Mullen defended the Red Devils honor in the face of the relentless Huskie fan abuse.

The Red Devils jumped on top in the second when Garrett Sosnovich and Brett Morse singled and came home on Andrew Nicholas’ fielder’s choice and a sac fly from Dan Portschy.  The lead widened in the third when a singling Chad Bisnette advanced on Sos’s second hit and scored on a Nicholas rbi.

After the Huskies closed the gap to 3 to 2 the Devils put the game away in the fourth when hits by Connor Lind, Dustin Reznicek, Biz, Morse, Portschy produced 4 runs bringing Colin Cook to the plate.  Cook hit a long blast to the fence and sprinted around the bases but could not beat the ball to third so he settled for a 2 rbi double.

Nick Kurash held the Huskies in check in the fourth as part of his 7 strikeout performance on his way to the win.

Hinsdale got in position to slaughter when they added 3 more in the fifth when Lind, Biz and Morse scored on rbi’s by Sos, Morse and Nicholas.  Despite getting 2 quick outs the Devils could not close the game and the Huskies added 6 in the fifth.

After leaving the bases jammed for the third time in the sixth featuring another long double by the  suddenly rejuevenated Cook, the Devils added 3 in the seventh when the walking Morse and Nicholas scored on Portschy’s mammoth blast to left center who was knocked in by a Lind single.

The E Unit made his third straight appearance and shut the Huskies down to complete the marathon game and send the Red Devils home with a victory.
