Central Stifles South's Hecklers
Nick Kurash did not let the intense heckling of the Hinsdale South Hornets affect his complete game pitching performance as the Red Devils dominated the Hornets in a 8 to 1 victory.
Kurash heater sent 5 Hornets buzzing to the bench. Though he walked 7 and hit one he only gave up 2 hits. The Devil D was outstanding. Center fielder Chad Bisnette made several long running catches of well hit balls, Connor Lind snared a bullet to end the fourth with runners on second and third, and made a controversial stretching catch, tag, pivot double play from Kurash to Colin Cook which brought the South coach on to the field. Andrew Nicholas ranged to his left and right to gobble up some balls at second and Garret Sosnovich made a tumbling catch of a windblown popup.
After a scoreless 2 innings the Devils plated 4 in the third when Dan Portschy and Colin Cook walked and advanced into scoring position on Lind's bunt single. Dustin Reznicek knocked in Portschy, Biz singled in Lind and Brett Morse tallied another on a sacrifice fly.
The Devils added another in the sixth when pinch runner Tim Connelly strolled home on an rbi Walk to Sos after Rez was hit by a pitch and Biz walked the bases full. Central added some insurance in the seventh when Nicholas singled, scored on Portschy's double who came in on Will Lamb's single. Rez got the final rbi which sent the Hornets back to the hive and quieted their buzzing.
