LIND, COOK, BIZ SUPPLY THE MUSCLE, BINDER CRUISES

Connor Lind hit his first career home run in over 2000 at bats to cap an 8-run first inning explosion as Hinsdale Central rolled in the first game of the state tournament.

Eric Binder hurled a complete game shutout, fanning 4 and applauded as the Devil D was solid when catcher Andrew Nicholas threw a strike to second baseman Rick Berdelle to stifle the only Currie scoring threat in the second.

The O was spectacular as 16 runs crossed the plate on 16 hits in only 4 innings of at bats.

The Daily Double struck again when Lind walked advanced to second on Dustin Reznicek's single and scored from second on a passed ball.  Brett Morse walked and Nicholas got an rbi on a fielders choice.  After Dan Portschy reached Mark Noth doubled in 2 and Eric Binder rapped a ball up the middle to score another.  Pinch runner Charlie Thomas trotted home on a Connor Clubbing over the right centerfield fence.

Morse doubled to lead off the second advanced on Nicholas and Noth's singles.  Colin Cook plated pinch runner Mike Grez with a sac fly.

The O slowed down in the third when only 1 scored on a Morse sac fly  after singles by Lind and Chad Bisnette.

As the Devils left the field to hit in the fourth , scorekeeper Catherine Crane was concerned that her pencil was getting worn out. Manager Andy Chen who is always prepared for anything, rummaged through his magic bag and produced a new number 2 which Catherine put to immediate good use.

The Devils picked up 5 in the fourth when a singling Dan Portschy scored on Noth's double to the fence which was followed by a Cookie Monster Shot over the right field wall.  Lind doubled and scored on Rez's triple to left.  Biz said no way to the K chants from the Currie bench and launched a Biz Blaster into the forest over the left field fence.

What a performance!!!
