Devils Thunder Sweeps the Trojans
Hinsdale Central completed a 3 game sweep of Downers North with a spectacular hitting display, a strong pitching performance by Nick Kurash, and a third straight errorless performance.
Connor Lind started the hit parade in the first by singling to right center moved to third on Dustin Reznicek’s single and came home on Chad Bisnette’s single. Biz scored on Brett Morse’s rbi single.
Downers countered with 2 to tie but the Devils countered with back to back doubles by Mark Noth and Connor Lind who crossed home on Rez’s single. The Devils added 2 more in the third and fourth when Morse scored on a Dan Portschy double who came home on Andrew Nicholas’ booming triple. The singling Rez was knocked in by Biz’s double off the left filed fence who came home on a Downers miscue.
The fun continued in the fifth when Nicholas reached and came home on a Noth rbi single. A singling Lind crossed home on Rez’s fourth hit of the day who touched home on a Garrett Sosnovich rbi double to complete the Red Devil scoring. Colin Cimala completed the Devil bombardment with the final single in the seventh.
Kurash was dominate as his moving heater sent 7 Torjans trudging to the bench. Rick Berdelle held the Trojans scoreless and was the beneficiary of strong infield play as Portschy snared a tricky one hopper and Lind and Nicholas completed another flawless turn to end the sixth.
