Devils Fielding Miscues Result in Loss
The second game of the doubleheader against Glenbard West began as a tight pitcher’s duel as Doug Pilcher took the mound and kept the game close for several innings. The GW pitcher, however, was working on a perfect game until the sixth inning.
The Red Devils fielding collapsed in the later innings as two errors in the fifth and two more in the sixth resulted in 5 unearned runs. Nick Kurash came in to pitch in relief of Pilcher during the fifth inning.
The crowd finally got involved as the Devils mounted a last inning rally stringing together four hits by Garrett Sosnovich, Brett Morse, Dan Portschy and Andrew Nicholas. Two runs came in but the game ended with runners on base after Colin Cook was out on a hard hit line drive. (GAME PHOTOS: Click Here)
