The JV game between Hinsdale Central and LT was another classic battle with the Red Devils coming up short losing 9 – 5.
Offensively Drew Bailey (2-2, two singles), Mark Noth (2-3, single & double) Charlie Thomas (2-3, single & triple) and Alex Bellusci (1-3, single) led the charge for the Red Devils. In the third inning trailing 6 – 0 Thomas hit an infield single followed by a walk to the catcher Frank Defino. Bellusci then singled scoring Thomas and then Noth singled to score Defino. In the fourth Bailey singled and courtesy runner Will Lamb advanced to second on a sacrifice by Tom Schultz. Lamb went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Sam Katz. In the fifth inning Thomas tripled and was gunned down at the plate on a ground ball by Defino who reached first base. Tim Connelly stepped to the plate next and hit a ball to the shortstop who then over threw the second baseman with the ball going into right field scoring Defino. Bellusci then sacrificed Connelly to second followed by Noth who doubled home Connelly.
Charlie Thomas pitched the first two innings striking out the five batters of which 3 of them were in the first inning, then gave up six runs in the second. Drew Bailey then pitched the last four innings striking out 5 batters and giving up 3 runs. |
